The Central Arkansas Little Britches Rodeo Assocation is a sanctioned chapter of the National Little Britches Rodeo Association - the oldest youth rodeo association in the country. The NLBRA is now in its 57th year of competition. The CALBRA's mission is to bring a new level of Youth Rodeo to Arkansas. No other Arkansas-based youth rodeo association can offer youth ages 5 -18 a National Finals competition at the end of the season. By hosting at least two rodeos a month, we hope to enable as many contestants as possible to fulfill their dreams to qualify and compete in the NLBRA Finals.
The NLBRA season begins August 1st of each year and ends with the National Finals the last week of July. To qualify for the finals, a contestant need only place in the top 7 of an event at four individual rodeos. Each contestant takes their top 5 places for each event to the Finals. At the finals, contestants compete for buckles, saddles, scholarships, and other awards
During the CALBRA rodeos, contestants will compete for NLBRA points and their share of the Jackpot. Per NLBRA rules, 60% of entry fees (excluding additional stock charges) will go into the Jackpot. The remaining 40% will be used to pay for all the expenses associated with producing a rodeo (arena fees, stock, bull fighters, announcers, etc).
Five age groups are available for children ages 5 - 18. They are:
The Little Wrangler division for boys and girls ages 5 to 7
The Junior Boys division for boys 8 - 13
The Junior Girls division for girls 8 - 13
The Senior Boys division for boys 14 - 18 and
The Senior Girls division for girls 14 - 18.
